What? Lifestyle more important than genetics for diabetes risk???

What a surprise!!! You mean eating the typical American high fat/high sugar diet and little or no activity is bad for them and they can’t just blame it all on their genes? Wonder how much it cost to figure that one out!

Study just out in the British Medical Journal reports that the so-called Cambridge and Framingham type 2 diabetes risk models, which are based on non-genetic factors such as age, sex, family history, waist circumference, body mass index, smoking behavior, cholesterol levels, dietary factors and so on, they found that both predicted risk of the disease better than a genetic risk model based on 20 common, independently inherited risk SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms - or variations in specific genes thought to be involved in diabetes).

All I can say is - what we nutritionists and your Mom have been saying for years - EAT RIGHT AND GET THE HECK OFF YOUR BUTT! IT AIN’T LASER PHYSICS FOLKS!
