Erin Majors quote
Our CEO had this kind of funny idea about giving each other quotes, songs or poems instead of monetary gifts since we are a small, struggling company just trying to survive. We each drew names and I got Kristin, our research assistant. Thinking about her personality, what came to mind was “Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Hope for tomorrow” by Albert Einstein (even more appropriate since he lived near here!). She happened to draw my name, and blew me away with the quote by Erin Majors - “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle” and the comment about how much my encouraging her to learn new things and go beyond her job title has meant to her and helped her. I always try to be a mentor as well as a boss - sometimes at the expense of the boss part, and it is so fulfilling to see that I have had such a positive effect on someone. That alone makes everything else we’ve been dealing with at work worthwhile, or at least a whole lot easier to look past. Thank you Kristin!
